OpenAsset is officially putting down roots in Australia

For over two decades, OpenAsset has partnered with AEC firms worldwide to help them tell better proposal stories, work smarter, and spend less time searching for files and more time winning work. Today, we’re excited to share an important next step in our journey. OpenAsset is officially expanding to Australia with a new office in Melbourne.
This move represents more than just a new location; it’s a deeper commitment to the AEC community across Australia and the broader APAC region.
A longstanding connection to the APAC AEC community
Although this is the first physical office in Australia, our relationship with the region is anything but new. OpenAsset has worked closely with Australian AEC firms and partners since 2008, supporting teams as they’ve grown, evolved, and navigated an increasingly competitive market.
As OpenAsset expanded from its UK roots into the US and beyond, the APAC customer base continued to grow. With customers now spanning 22 countries, opening a Melbourne office felt like a natural and necessary next step to support the firms we’ve partnered with for years.
Welcoming a familiar face to lead the next chapter
We’re also thrilled to share that Liam Nicholls has been appointed Director of Australia Operations, leading OpenAsset’s regional growth and customer engagement efforts from Melbourne.
For many at OpenAsset, Liam is a deeply respected and familiar face. Liam previously spent nearly seven years with OpenAsset (2013–2020), serving as Vice President of the UK Customer Success team. During that time, he played a pivotal role in supporting customers and helping the company scale during a period of significant growth.
In early 2020, Liam and his family returned home to Melbourne. While there were plans for continued collaboration at the time, the world—and COVID—had other ideas. Now, as OpenAsset CEO Jason Janicki puts it, the timing couldn’t be better.
