Before OpenAsset, all of our images were stored on our Madison network. With thousands of files, we were unable to search and locate specific images. We knew this wasn’t ideal and began looking for alternatives. Staff were frustrated that they couldn’t easily locate the images they were looking for – OpenAsset seemed to fit the need with the ability to easily search and find the right images.
Creating a Firm-wide Image Library at Flad Architects
The marketing support team in Flad Architect’s Madison, Wisconsin, office supports all of the firm’s offices throughout the United States. From Madison, the team manages all workflows within the marketing group and uses OpenAsset on a daily basis for presentations and proposals that are created using PowerPoint and InDesign. With OpenAsset as a centralized photo library, everyone within the company has access to view and search for images that suit their needs.

PRESENTATION AND PROPOSAL CREATION
Whether preparing proposals or compiling presentations, OpenAsset allows our staff to easily find the right images that will resonate with our targeted users, customers, or audiences.
One of the nicest features of OpenAsset is that we can upload original photography at its highest resolution, and it automatically resizes the photo to a variety of file sizes. We created a custom size that is 300dpi to use in almost everything. Our graphic designers, however, can still access the original, large file size when they are working on a project where the highest resolution is required.
OPENASSET AS A FIRM-WIDE RESOURCE
We started with a 50-user license, and within two years we went to an enterprise version – allowing everyone in the firm to have access. Before we decided to open the DAM firm-wide, marketing would help project teams by fielding requests for images. When we went to the enterprise version, we created a new Project Team category so project staff have their own file keywords relevant to their workflow; using OpenAsset to store renderings, floor plans, etc.
RESULTS
The biggest benefit for me is that it has made our work process so much more efficient. We quickly find what we need and easily drop it into other programs. And, we can easily share albums among groups to quickly view photos that are being considered for projects.
OpenAsset runs really well, and the support team at OpenAsset is very responsive and always ready to answer questions we may have. The multiple ways of searching has been very useful and a big time saver for us. Using OpenAsset, our staff can view and search through all of the images, which is invaluable in our work processes.
